Full Professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Biotechnology at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), she holds a degree in Biological Sciences – Medical Modality from UNIRIO and a Master's and Doctorate in Biological Chemistry from UFRJ. She works in the areas of Biophysics and Biochemistry of Macromolecules, with an interest in understanding the molecular mechanisms involved in protein folding, aggregation, and phase separation, particularly in systems related to neurodegenerative diseases. She coordinates the Laboratory of Structural Molecular Biology (LaBiME), where she develops studies mainly with the prion protein (PrP) and alpha-synuclein, investigating their interactions with proteins, nucleic acids, metal ions, and other ligands, as well as strategies for modulating protein aggregation. To this end, she employs different biophysical and biochemical approaches.
