– To assess biosafety conditions in all activities of the Faculty of Pharmacy;

– Assist in the management, handling, and disposal of chemical waste;

– Assist in the management, handling, and disposal of infectious waste;

– Obtain or renew the Operating License Certificate (CLF) from the Federal Police;

– Operate the Federal Police system for the control of Chemical Products (SIPROQUIM 2);

– Request the monthly submission of entries and exits of chemical products controlled by the Federal Police;

– To request, at any time, an inventory of controlled or non-controlled chemical products from research laboratories and practical classes;

– To regulate and assist in the donation of chemical products and various materials among the members of the FF's social body;

– Assist in the preparation of Risk Maps for practical and research laboratories;

– Map the exact location of the FF fire extinguishers and promote training for their correct use;

– To develop and share informational and promotional material on Biosafety;

– To train and empower staff and students of the Faculty of Pharmacy;

– Organize actions, projects and events in biosecurity;

– Disseminate the Healthcare Waste Management Plan of the CCS Biosafety Coordination;

– Disseminate updates to the Normative Instructions of the Biosafety Coordination of the CCS;

– Create Normative Instructions related to Biosafety at the Pharmaceutical Company;

– To provide guidance in case of incidents or accidents;

– To provide ongoing training for FF staff and students through courses, training sessions, and lectures;

– Conduct periodic technical visits to practical teaching laboratories;

– Conduct technical visits to research laboratories;

– To promote the management and assist in the final disposal of Chemical Waste from the CCS;

– To guide the entire social body on the legislation and normative instructions regarding the purchase, storage, and use of chemical products controlled or not by the Federal Police;

– To provide guidance on the importance of using collective protective equipment (CPE) and personal protective equipment (PPE) and to assist in the purchase of this material;

– To promote joint action with the fire brigade to raise awareness in order to mitigate incidents and accidents;

– To provide guidance on receiving internal and external donations of chemical products in order to control long-term storage that could put the entire academic community at risk;

– To represent the Faculty of Pharmacy in the Biosafety Committee of the CCS;

The Biosafety Coordination of the Faculty of Pharmacy (CB-FF) is coordinated by staff members Patrícia Fernandes and Edlaine Rijo and subdivided into four work divisions composed of other staff members (technicians and professors), namely:

– Division of Controlled Chemical Products (DIPROQUIM);

– Division of Occupational Safety, prevention, fire fighting and chemical accidents (Fire Brigade members);

– Division of Biological Material (DIMABIO);

– Chemical Material Division (DIMAQUIM).
